Works on Paper & Paintings, c.1600-1900

Tom Mendel read Theology and the History of Art at Clare College, Cambridge, before going on to run the Picture sales for an auction house in West London. Tom set up the Nonesuch Gallery in 2020 to provide high-quality, fully researched and above all interesting pictures to established collectors, institutional collections, and first-time buyers. We offer advice to clients on works coming up for sale, building their collections, and on private sales. The gallery specialises in works on paper from the 16th to 19th centuries; with a focus on landscape & topographical watercolours and drawings, particularly those relating to ‘The Grand Tour’ and travel more broadly.

Tom is one of the youngest members of the Society of London Art Dealers, and was recently featured in the Antiques Trade Gazette as part of a feature on a new generation of Old Master dealers.

Notable institutions to whom we have sold include the following:

THE METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART, NEW YORK
THE CLEVELAND MUSEUM OF ART, OHIO
THE GROLIER CLUB LIBRARY, NEW YORK
THE BRITISH MUSEUM, LONDON
THE PALESTINE EXPLORATION FUND, LONDON
