Sculpture from 1860 to the Present Day

Located at 6 Duke Street, St James’s, Bowman Sculpture is the premier gallery for sculptures by Auguste Rodin.

Bowman Sculpture is dedicated to showcasing the finest examples of sculpture ranging from the 19th century to the present day. The gallery exhibits works by European Romantic masters such as Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux, Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse, and Aimé-Jules Dalou as well as significant sculptures from the New School period including Lord Frederic Leighton, Hamo Thornycroft and Edward Onslow-Ford. Our collection also includes exceptional examples of Impressionist, Modern, and Cubist sculptures by Edgar Degas, Pablo Picasso, Henri Laurens, Jacques Lipchitz, and Ossip Zadkine as well as significant works by Modern British artists such as Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, Lynn Chadwick and Elizabeth Frink.

In recent years the gallery has modernized its approach to focus more on contemporary sculpture both well-established and emerging artists worldwide. Specializing in innovative and thought-provoking works which are grounded in traditional techniques and materials, the gallery features a diverse range of styles and mediums, from abstract and figurative pieces to large-scale installations and environmental sculptures.

Established in 1993 by Robert and Michele Bowman, following Robert’s fifteen years at Sotheby’s where he was Director of European Works of Art, Bowman Sculpture has earned a reputation for sourcing sculptures of exceptional quality. In 2019, their daughter Mica Bowman joined the business as director, now running it alongside her father.

Robert Bowman is a renowned sculpture expert who has served on UK Government committees for the Acceptance in Lieu Tax Scheme and the Export of Art and Objects of Cultural Interest. He also chaired the TEFAF vetting committee for 19th & 20th-century sculpture for over 15 years.

This family-owned gallery in St James’s invites collectors, enthusiasts, academics, and newcomers to explore its artist-defining sculptures.
